Savannah Guthrie made an abrupt exit Today – but for a funny reason.
After appearing in the first hour of TodayGuthrie, 52, noticeably exited the NBC morning show on Friday, April 26, minutes into the second hour. Your co-host Hoda Kotb revealed the reason for her exit, telling viewers: “Savannah left a little early today to start her weekend.”
Guthrie’s absence comes days after she enjoyed a long weekend by skipping the Monday, April 22, episode Today. Co-host of the third hour Sheinelle Joneswho was also missing from Friday’s episode, filled in for the TV personality, who Kotb, 59, said was “taking some time off today.”
Monday’s episode also marked the return of Craig Melvin, who took the past week off. Co-host of the third hour Dylan Dreyer also did not appear in the episode, but returned the next day with Guthrie.
Guthrie didn’t elaborate on the reason for the break at the time, although she did take to Instagram to clarify the reason for her absence by sharing photos of her husband. “Me + Oliver ❤️,” Guthrie captioned Instagram snaps of herself and her colleague’s child in that day’s episode. “Thank you so much for letting me hold/steal your adorable baby @cartermckay and Brian.”
The next day, several of her colleagues Today Hosts brought their children to 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City for “Take Your Kids to Work Day.” “We have so many great kids, kids of our crew, our producers, on-air correspondents,” Guthrie said Thursday, April 25, while greeting the group of children.

Guthrie and her son joined her Today Earlier this month, colleagues and their children attended the total solar eclipse at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. “Total eclipse of my heart ❤️,” Guthrie captioned a sweet Instagram photo of Charley wearing solar eclipse viewing glasses on April 8.
