Fashion’s biggest night will take place without one of pop culture’s biggest stars. ET learned that Taylor Swift will not be attending the Met Gala this year so she can continue preparing for her Eras tour.
The 2024 Met Gala As always, takes place on the first Monday in May – this year on May 6th – in New York City. The top-class event – under the direction of Fashion Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour – will cover the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” as a nod to fashion history. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition theme – curated and organized by the Costume Institute – will present 250 objects from its permanent collection in new, innovative ways.
Since 1995, Wintour has been co-chair of the Met Gala Fashionthe partnership began with the Met Gala. This year’s co-chairs also include Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth And Bad bunny.
Meanwhile, Swift is gearing up to continue her blockbuster Epoch tour on Thursday, May 9, in Paris, France after dropping her record-breaking Album, The Tortured Poets Departmentlast week.
Swift recently released a collection of New behind the scenes videos from apparently current tour rehearsals. The black and white clips are set to their current single.Fourteen days” with Post Maloneas part of their ongoing #ForAFornightChallenge on YouTube Shorts.
Swifties wasted no time analyzing the images and took note of seemingly new props that could hint at the addition of TTPD Songs to their already extensive setlist.
In one shot, Swift appears to be standing in front of a sign that looks quite similar to her TTPD Logo. In another instance, her background dancers all wear top hats not included in previous performances.
Swift has attended the Met Gala several times since 2008. She most recently stunned in a futuristic Louis Vuitton look while co-chairing the themed event “Manus x Machine: Fashion in the Age of Technology” in 2016.
Previously, she had a princess moment in “Oscar de la Renta” for the 2014 “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” gala.
No word on whether Swift’s friend, Travis KelceShe plans to attend the high-profile event alone. The Kansas City Chiefs player – who recently extended his contract becoming the highest-paid tight end in the NFL – has never attended the Met Gala in the past. His teammate, Patrick MahomesHe performed with his wife last year, Brittany Mahomes.
In February, the Met Gala announced that this year’s dress code would be “The Garden of Time,” inspired by JG Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name.
