Law Roach He has a long history of iconic fashion moments with his countless stunning clients, but one moment in particular makes him emotional.
When he sat down with ET for a retrospective, the 45-year-old image architect reminisced about the styling Celine Dion for her surprise appearance at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards in February. Dion took the stage to announce the winner of the coveted competition Album of the Year Award — Taylor Swift for midnight.
During the awards show, the 16-time GRAMMY nominee, 55, shocked the crowd by showing up and presenting the award amid her ongoing health battle Stiff Person Syndrome. Dion, the 1997 Album of the Year winner for Falling into youarrived to a standing ovation from those in attendance.
“Thank you all, I love you right back,” Dion told the audience. “When I say I’m happy to be here, I really mean it. From the bottom of my heart.”
Roach, who also styled Zendaya And Megan Thee StallionHe tells ET that styling Dion for her surprise appearance was “very emotional” for him.
“When I got the call that she was doing this, she wanted to show the world everything [in the media] Was [saying] that she was so sick and bedridden, she was in a wheelchair,” she said OMG Fashun Host explains. “And I was able to play a small part in her showing the world that she was happy and healthy and alive and ready to be on stage again… it was great.”
On social media, Roach said he came out of “retirement” for “just one night” to style Dion after the announcement his abrupt departure from regular celebrity styling in March 2022.
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer definitely made a statement in her mustard-colored mohair coat and a low-cut pale pink wrap dress with a thigh-high slit from Valentino’s Le Salon Spring 2024 couture collection. The collection, designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli, debuted on January 24th.
Roach accessorized the stunning ensemble with a statement metallic statement necklace, bracelet, and shiny diamond studs from Tiffany & Co., which were partially hidden by her chic blunt bob.
On GRAMMYs night, Roach took to social media to share a video of Dion’s performance backstage. He captioned the post, “We’re BACK……” and tagged the singer, “Power of Love.”
Dion was he was diagnosed with the rare neurological disease in December 2022 and has rarely appeared in public since then. The condition the singer struggles with led to her Cancellation of various concertsand the discontinuation of her Courage World Tour, which she last performed in March 2020.
Her performance at the GRAMMYs followed the announcement of the singer’s documentary, directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Irene Taylor found a home at Amazon MGM Studios.
According to the film’s official synopsis I am: Celine Dion is “an intimate exploration that takes the viewer on a journey into the singer’s past and present She reveals her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) and the efforts she has made to continue performing for her beloved and loyal fans.
From viewing her couture tour wardrobe and personal items to spending time in the recording studio, the documentary captures the unprecedented personal life of a global megastar.
“An emotional, energetic and poetic love letter to music, I am: Celine Dion “captures more than a year of filming as the legendary singer navigates her journey to living an open and authentic life in the midst of illness,” the description reads.
Although Roach has retired from celebrity styling as a day job, he is busy working on his new reality competition series. OMG Fashun. Play along on the side Julia FoxThe series encourages aspiring designers to use the model as a muse for their next best unconventional look.
“Julia is simply the coolest and most down-to-earth person [person]Roach tells ET about his co-host. “She doesn’t take herself seriously, which I love because I don’t take myself seriously either, and she just sets the tone and the vibe of the set.” She gave me the opportunity to just be authentic, crazy and crazy, and we had a lot of fun.”
As for the series’ goal, Roach says he and Fox are looking for a designer whose platform is “sustainable and helps alleviate the burden that fashion places on our world.”
“I think for me that is one of the main criteria alongside talent.
