Titled Haseen Dillruba again Produced by Anand L. Rai, the film has already garnered a lot of anticipation as one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases of 2024.
Who is Pravin Tambe? Director Jayprad Desai’s next film is based on a fake IPL scam
Industry insiders have revealed that Desai’s upcoming project delves into the riveting story of the fake IPL (Indian Premiere League) scam, considered one of the most brazen scams in the history of cricket. Inspired by Faraz Ahsan’s acclaimed book First Copy, the narrative unfolds against the backdrop of Gujarat, where the fake IPL took place and caught the attention of Russian players. A group of people organized a fake IPL tournament for which they collected large sums of money by tricking businessmen into investing in the tournament.
Collaborating with Desai on the script is the talented duo Hussain Dalal and Abbas Dalal, who are known for their outstanding work in films like “…” 2 states, Yeh younga hai deewani, Farzi, New Messagesand the eagerly awaited one Brahmastra.
With production set to begin soon, the film is slated to hit theaters in early 2025, offering audiences a captivating cinematic experience that explores the intrigue and tension surrounding the infamous fake IPL scandal.
Jayprad Desai’s last film Kaun Pravin Tambe? was also about cricket, but it was very different from his upcoming film on the IPL fake scandal. Kaun Pravin Tambe? is based on the life of cricketer Pravin Tambe, played by Shreyas Talpade, who had to struggle immensely to earn a place in the Ranji Trophy team after his exploits in the IPL, where he made his debut after crossing the age of 40 to fight for from Mumbai.
