Sophia Bush has finally confessed that Ashlyn Harris is her girlfriend in a wonderfully candid new interview.
The A tree hill Star has broken her silence about her first queer relationship as she’s finally ready to tell the world her truth.
“I really love who I am, at this age and at this moment,” Sophia announced.

After several failed marriages and a lifetime of analyzing her relationships, Sophia Bush was able to share the truth about her love life in her own way.
Shortly after she ended her third marriage to Grant Hughes, there were rumors that she had moved on with someone else: former US soccer star Ashlyn Harris.
The relationship is confirmation that Sophia is queer, a label she is excited to finally say out loud.
“When I came to myself, I already felt that it was my home. “I think I’ve always known that my sexuality existed on a spectrum,” Bush, 41, said in her self-written book shine Cover story. “Right now I think the word that best defines it is queer. Actually, I can’t say it without smiling. And that feels pretty awesome.”
“I finally feel like I can breathe. I don’t think I can explain how profound this is,” she added. But she tries anyway.
“I feel like I’ve been wearing a weighted vest for who knows how long. I didn’t realize how heavy it was until I finally just turned it off.”
Who is Ashlyn Harris?
But is it this woman who has captured Sophia’s heart?
Ashlyn is a popular former American soccer player. She made her senior national team debut on March 11, 2013 and took part in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup alongside teammates such as Megan Rapinoe and Ali Krieger, whom she later married.
While Ashlyn has been out for quite some time, Sophia only came to the realization later. However, because she has been an ally for so many years, Sophia said that now that she is a member, she has “experienced so much safety, respect and love in the queer community.”
“I kind of hate the idea of having to come out in 2024. But I am deeply aware that we are having this conversation in a year in which we are witnessing the most aggressive attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community in modern history,” she continued. “More than 500 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills were introduced in state legislatures in 2023, so I want to give coming out the respect and honor it deserves.”
Does Ashlyn Harris have children?
Ashlyn began a relationship with former USWNT teammate Ali Krieger in 2010. Their romance lasted 13 years and by all accounts she seemed happy during that time.
They were in Miami on December 28, 2019 with fellow soccer star Megan Rapinoe as Ashlyn’s maid of honor. Two years later, on Valentine’s Day 2021, the couple announced that they had adopted a daughter, Sloane. A year later, on August 16, 2022, they announced the adoption of their son Ocean.
On September 19, 2023, Ashlyn filed for divorce, a move that came as a complete shock to her partner of almost 13 years.
“I found out at practice,” Ali said Self magazine in January 2024. “I was in the field. And when I left the field, in the locker room, I was obviously devastated.”
The reason for the divorce remains unknown, although many have speculated that it was because Ashlyn met Sophia.

Sophia married her last husband, Grant, in 2022. However, the romance lasted just over a year before she filed for divorce in August 2023. If you do the math, that’s a month before Ashlyn ended her marriage.
In October 2023, the two were romantically linked and rumors of infidelity and home destruction began circulating.
“To those who said I left my ex because I suddenly realized I wanted to be with women – my partners have known what I was into for so long,” she wrote. “The idea that I left my marriage because of a hysterical tryst – which, to be clear, never happened – and not because it took me over a year to do the most soul-destroying work of my life? Instead of realizing that I had to be the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on a public stage, even though I was scared to my core? It feels brutal.”
