What Jerry Seinfeld Told Zach Galifianakis About the ‘Hangover’ Sequels

Jerry Seinfeld isn’t interested in making endless sequels just for the money. For the Unfrosted Star, cinema is all about making art.

The 69-year-old comedy titan recently met up with a fellow comedian Jim Gaffigan for a new episode of “Spilling the E-Tea” and the Unfrosted The co-stars interviewed each other about their new project – and possibly a sequel in the future.

“I don’t even want to think about it,” Seinfeld said. “How many movies have they ruined with sequels?”

A film franchise that came to mind for this Bee film star was the Hangover – which infamously started strong, but each subsequent entry in the trilogy was increasingly panned by critics.

“I said Zach Galifianakis that he was an underground comedian, you know, and I thought, “I’m the mainstream guy from NBC.” And [yet] “I ended my series at the top as an artistic decision,” Seinfeld said of his eponymous work His field sitcom, “and he fornicated the Hangover [franchise] until we hated it.

“Yeah, but he owns the entire block we’re on right now?” Gaffigan, 57, joked about the comic actor before pointing out that not all sequels are bad – and noted this The Godfather Part 2 as a particularly strong example.

“It disrupted the entire industry,” Seinfeld retorted. “Because that worked, everyone thought, ‘Well, Godfather 2 worked, so let’s do 12 more Barbies.’”

Seinfeld makes his feature film directorial debut Unfrostedwhich tells a fictional story of Kellogg’s and Post Cereal competing to create the popular pastry now known as Pop-Tarts.

Seinfeld co-wrote the script and plays Bob Cabana, a Kellogg’s manager who spearheads the development of Pop-Tarts. Gaffigan, meanwhile, plays Edsel Kellogg III, the head of the Kellogg’s company.

The film features a truly top-class star castincluding Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Hugh GrantMax Greenfield, Peter Dinklage, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, James MarsdenTony Hale, Cedric the Entertainer and Jon Hammto name a few.

According to Seinfeld, if they ever created one Unfrosted 2it would probably revolve around that Christian Slater Character – a villainous milkman who works as an assassin for the American Milk Syndicate.

“You’d probably just have to focus on Christian Slater’s evil milkman,” Seinfeld suggested. “Just go into his life.”

As for the Hangover There are some fans who think there could be more life and star in the franchise Bradley Cooper made headlines when he hinted that he would be returning to his role.

During a podcast appearance The New York Radio Hour In November, Cooper was asked if he was only interested in serious roles now or if he would be willing to come back for a theoretical fourth installment the Hangover Franchise. He replied, “I probably would.” Hangover 4 in a moment, yes.”

The actor spoke to ET at the 2023 Gotham Awards a week after appearing on the podcast in New York City and addressed his comments.

“Yeah, I was serious,” Cooper said of his willingness to sign up, adding, “That’ll never happen, but yeah.”

As for Unfrostedthe star-studded comedy premieres on Netflix on May 3rd.
