Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ Networks Boss Leaves Newshub Amid Layoffs

Glen Kyne will leave his role as senior vice president and head of networks at Warner Bros Discovery Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) on July 5.

Juliet Peterson, current Senior Director of Content and BVOD, will lead the company as Vice President, Head of Networks, ANZ, reporting to James Gibbons, President of WBD’s Asia Pacific business.

This leadership change comes amid the impending closure of Newshub in New Zealand, where more than 300 jobs will be lost when the newsroom ceases operations in July.

Michael Brooks will continue in his dual role as Managing Director, Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia, reporting to Ronald Goes, and Head of Studios, ANZ, reporting to Gibbons.

“Glen has done an incredible job navigating the disruption in the industry,” said Gibbons. “He was a popular and reassuring leader; His leadership of the organization during the recent restructuring emphasized empathy and kindness, two qualities that anyone who has worked with Glen knows he possesses in abundance.”

Kyne said: “I’ve been working at Flower St for ten years now under various ownership structures, but my love for our company, our people and our industry has never been greater.” As part of Discovery and later Warner Bros. Commenting on her new appointment, Peterson said: “We have built a strong foundation for this [smart TV app] ThreeNow has seen record engagement on the platform in recent months and will continue to grow.

“I will also be looking at the overall ANZ business, working with our partners on both sides of the divide to further develop our portfolio in the Trans-Tasman market.” My focus is on building these capabilities even further and continuing to deliver powerful channels and platforms for the benefit of our partners and target groups in both markets.”
