Vivek Dahiya recently revealed his initial insecurities about marrying his actor wife Divyanka Tripathi. In an interview with Telly Masala, Vivek expressed concerns about whether he would be able to live up to the expectations of being with someone as ‘famous’ as Divyanka. He admitted to making assumptions about her lifestyle and imagined that she would have to live in a big house with expensive cars. Their mutual friend Pankaj Bhatia played a crucial role in getting the two to know each other as he was convinced that they would make a good couple. Pankaj assured Vivek that Divyanka valued love over material wealth or status and encouraged him to pursue a relationship based on genuine affection and not financial considerations.
Vivek Dahiya initially thought he couldn’t marry Divyanka Tripathi: ‘I thought we would have a certain lifestyle’
Vivek Dahiya said, “I met Divyanka through Pankaj Bhatia, a common friend of ours. He would often pull my legs, call me random names to see if I would get angry or fall back on him, and when he thought the guy was balanced and mature, he thought the guy was good for Divyanka. He called my mother-in-law and told her about me. Then he started pitching both me and Divyanka. My only concern was: How could I afford such a big and famous actress? Maine socha, unka ek certain lifestyle hoga, certain Tarike se wo jeeti hogi, itna bada ghar hoga, aisi gaadiyan hogi (I thought she would have a certain lifestyle. She must have a big house with expensive cars so I thought how could that work? I can afford it?).”
Vivek Dahiya added, “When I discussed this with Pankaj, he told me one thing and (for that) I will thank him all my life. He says Divyanka doesn’t care about all these things. He literally sold us both to each other individually. He told me that Divyanka was not arrogant at all because she was such a big star. She’s just a simple girl who only looks for simple things. She is just looking for the true feeling of love. If you can love her, then there is nothing she would want from you.”
Vivek Dahiya and Divyanka Tripathi got married on July 8, 2016. They fell in love on the sets of their show Yeh Hai Mohabattein.
