Vanessa Lachey Reflects on the Cancellation of “NCIS: Hawaii.”

Vanessa Lachey is still process the unexpected rejection her crime drama, NCIS: Hawaii.

The actress took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video of her sitting on some rocks overlooking the ocean in Hawaii and playing the song “Sweet Jane” by Cowboy Junkies – a tribute to her character, Special Agent Jane Tennant.

“This was the same place I filmed Episode 1,” Lachey, 43, recalls in the caption. “I sat here at 2am in June 2021 staring into the sea. I asked them to protect me, my family, my crew and our show. I told her we will do everything we can to protect the grace and integrity of Hawaii while sharing its beauty with the world.”

“As I sat here today knowing our show was over, I turned to her one more time… what do we do now… (please keep us all safe),” she continued. She replied with ease. Just as the air hits the water and the water hits the land, the waves hit the shore, some with tremendous impact, and then… out they go again. You see…we are not meant to be here. We are here forever on borrowed time. We value what has been provided to us, we nurture it, and then better leave it to the next dreamer.

Lachey shared that she “wishes to my crew and my cast that we all remember the beauty of what we had.”

“I wish we had more time, I’m sorry we didn’t. I wish we had said goodbye properly, I’m sorry we didn’t,” she added. “I know that we are ALL connected more deeply than any television show. I will go to the ends of the earth for my cast and crew! If you come across ANY of them…hire them! You will not be disappointed. Salt of the Earth.” People!”

Lachey concluded her post with an inspiring, positive message.

“In Hawaii we don’t say ‘goodbye,’ we say ‘A Hui Hou,’ it means ‘until we meet again.’ To all of you and especially to the beloved fans… A Hui Hou,” she shared.

Following the news, sources said deadline that the season three finale was not intended to be a conclusion to the series and will end with a taste of season four drama that never materializes.

The Lachey-led spin-off was the fourth for NCIS Franchise – that New Orleans And The angel The versions ended in 2021 and 2023 respectively – and the first with a woman at the helm.

Over the weekend, Lachey broke her silence following the cancellation with a heartfelt message posted via her Instagram Story.

Lachey expressed a mix of emotions: from despair to gratitude. “Eviscerated, confused, blind,” she confessed, before quickly turning to acknowledge the unwavering support of the show’s dedicated fan base.

“Grateful, confident, beloved fans,” she added, showing her appreciation for their continued loyalty.

When ET spoke to Lachey about her role in ” Hawaii already in February, she gushed about being “a part of this incredible franchise” that aired 1000th episode earlier this month.

“To be the newcomer – the baby after three seasons – and to be able to celebrate 1,000 episodes of a television show, I don’t know if people really realize what a huge accomplishment that is,” Lachey told ET. “…I’m just honored and constantly humbled and very grateful. But I don’t take it for granted either.”
