The footage shared by popular automotive influencer platform Viral Cars Hyderabad via its Instagram channel shows a camouflaged Kia Clavis navigating urban streets. One striking feature seen in the video is the SUV’s sophisticated vertical LED daytime running lights (DRLs). An interesting feature would be the vehicle’s advanced sensor technology, which seamlessly switches headlight illumination in response to reduced ambient light conditions. These full-LED headlights, distinguished by their vertical orientation, hint at the possible inclusion of dual-function LED daytime running lights, although this remains speculative until further confirmation.

In addition, the vehicle’s exterior design is highlighted by the presence of a radar system on the lower bumper and a windshield-mounted camera, indicating advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) designed to increase safety and comfort for the driver. The Clavis features a scalloped hood and is said to have a rugged, boxy design aesthetic in keeping with current SUV design trends.

Distinctive design elements such as the split front grille, faux skid plate, new alloy wheel designs and integrated LED turn signals on the exterior rear view mirrors (ORVMs) can be seen. These features, along with the SUV’s deep gray paint, square wheel arches and roof rails, contribute to its imposing appearance and distinctive pseudo-SUV identity as we Indians understand it.

Glimpses of the interior reveal an expected array of high-tech features, including a fully digital instrument cluster, multifunction steering wheel and 360-degree camera system, all wrapped in an ice gray interior color scheme. Kia’s reputation for equipping its vehicles with cutting-edge features suggests that the Clavis will be no exception, setting new standards in its class for technological integration.

The rear design of the Clavis retains the boxy motif, characterized by vertical LED taillights with a unique drop-down design that flows seamlessly into the tailgate, a contemporary styling feature that may be complemented by an LED connecting strip – a common Element in modern vehicle designs.

The positioning of the indicators and other rear lights on the bumper as well as the placement of the license plate differ from conventional SUV designs and further differentiate the Clavis in its segment.

Strategically positioned between the Kia Sonet and the Seltos, the Clavis embodies Kia’s commitment to offering a comprehensive SUV range that meets consumers’ diverse preferences and driving needs. Originally, availability with a petrol engine was planned; the introduction of electric and possibly hybrid variants is also possible.

The Kia Clavis will compete hard in the compact SUV segment against established models like the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon. Its launch, expected later this year or early 2025, is highly anticipated by industry observers and consumers alike and is a sign of Kia’s continued innovation and growth in the automotive sector.
