On Tuesday (May 7), there was news of a shooting that reportedly took place outside of drakeis at home in Toronto. Details of the incident are not yet known, but Toronto Police recently clarified what information they have.
Details about the shoot
An inspector with Toronto police’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force gave a news conference early Tuesday. It is clear at this time that Drake was not the victim, but police did not say whether he was home at the time of the incident.
An adult male employed as a security guard was shot sometime around 2 a.m. Police refused to clarify whether it was a drive-by or a stop-and-shoot situation. However, the suspect is said to have fled the scene in a vehicle.
After receiving the call, police determined the security guard was unconscious and suffering from “an apparent gunshot wound.” Police said he was standing outside the apartment at the time of the shooting. Paramedics transported the man to hospital in “serious condition.” CBC reports that the security guard reportedly underwent surgery at the hospital.
Police say they have video of the incident. However, due to video quality, no description of the car or suspect is being released at this time. Additionally, due to the early nature of the investigation, they have no motive for the shooting. The speaking commissioner warned that the neighborhood should expect an increased police presence in the next few hours.
Drake has not yet commented publicly, but his team is cooperating with the investigation.

Drake’s home address in Toronto is no secret
Reactions to the reported shooting are pouring in across all social media platforms. Among the loudest criticisms of the media coverage were questions about the disclosure of the rapper’s Toronto address. But to be clear, this secret has been out for a hot minute now.
In August 2021, Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) doxxed the rapper’s speech in Toronto during their public feud, according to HipHopDX.
But even then, the Addy wasn’t hidden information among the locals. Drizzy drew attention to the Park Lane Circle address when he purchased the property for his mansion in 2015. According to CNN, he paid $6.7 million for the property and tore down the bungalow that stood on it.
His goal in building the 50,000-square-foot home was to have it stand for 100 years, as he told Architectural Digest in 2020.
“Since I built it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to last for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental size and charisma. It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.” he said.
Nicknamed “The Embassy,” it was built from materials such as limestone, bronze and exotic woods.
Now his neighborhood is “prosperous” but “pretty open,” said a CTV News Channel reporter.
“Everyone knew where Drake lived. There is a lot of space between the houses. The houses are villas,” the reporter shared.
Locals know the area as Bridle Path. While covering the shooting, a second reporter confirmed to CP24 that Drizzy’s living area was “known.”
“Drake’s actual place of residence is also known. A lot of people know he lives on this street.” She said.

As previously mentioned, the OVO rapper gave AD an exclusive tour of his high-ceilinged mansion in 2020. Behind the property’s final look is architecture and interior designer Ferris Rafauli, who blends ancient craftsmanship with modern Art Deco and “overwhelming exhilaration” in “luxury” interiors, per AD.
Its bed and frame alone weigh nearly a ton and sit in a 3,200-square-foot master bedroom suite. His bathroom has a 4,000-pound black marble bathtub. His closet is now two stories high.
Drake’s home also features an NBA-sized court, a world-class recording studio, an awards ceremony room, a hallway with sports jerseys on display, and an indoor black granite swimming pool.

Meanwhile, the shootings at Drake’s came just days after Kendrick Lamar used an aerial photo of the mansion as the cover of his dissident track “Not Like Us.” Still, police have not confirmed whether the shooting has any connection to their public feud.
The rappers have been kicking each other’s necks from the booth for a little over a month. In his latest response to Lamar, “The Heart Part 6,” Drake appeared to wave the white flag. His five-minute track was a response to Lamar’s back-to-back releases “Not Like Us” and “Meet The Grahams” this past weekend. Lamar released the tracks in response to Drizzy’s “Family Matters.”
In “The Heart Part 6,” Drake criticized Kendrick’s pedophile accusations and disparaged his relationship with his fiancée, among several other insults.
