Tori spelling shows her support for ex Dean McDermott.
Spelling, 50, liked an Instagram post shared by McDermott, 57, on Tuesday, April 9. The upload included a quote that read, “If you just stayed sober today, you’re still winning. Keep up the good work.”
Alongside the message, McDermott wrote in the caption: “I’m proud of you. Nuff Said!! #cleanandsober #thesoberlife 🙏🤟.”
Despite the breakup, McDermott recently gushed about having Spelling by his side on his journey to sobriety. “Tori has always been my biggest supporter, my biggest fan,” McDermott said Page six March. “She just wants me to be happy, and she’s an incredible woman in that way.”
Us weekly confirmed in March that Spelling had filed for divorce from McDermott after announcing their split via social media in June 2023. (The couple has five children: Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7.)
During an episode of her “misSPELLING” podcast earlier this month, Spelling recalled her last fight, in which she threw a baked potato from Wendy’s on the floor.
“I mean, he’s being threatened [divorce] a million times. “I don’t think I ever threatened to do it, and there were times when I really wanted to, but I would never throw that in anyone’s face if I didn’t really mean it,” Spelling said. “I thought it would be another fight.”
Prior to the podcast episode, McDermott had revealed that he was struggling with substance abuse at the time and sought treatment after the fight.
After his experience, McDermott felt inspired to pursue a career as a drug and alcohol counselor.
“I work in recovery today because of my experience in treatment and my sober life,” he said Page six March. “I am an alcohol and drug counselor and work with other treatment centers. I work with alcoholics and addicts and help them find the path I found and am on now. It’s incredibly rewarding.”
Despite his initial hesitation to try breathing exercises, McDermott said it “changed his life.”
“I thought, ‘Okay, I don’t know what this is.’ It sounds a little artsy and farty. But I made a deal, I’m all in, so I’m going to try it,” McDermott said, adding that he “fell in love with it.”
McDermott, who was working as an actor when he met Spelling in 2005, said he wouldn’t rule out a return to acting despite his newfound passion.
“I’m lucky that I discovered a gift that I have,” he said. “I have a gift for helping people in this capacity, as well as my talent for acting. I am very lucky to have two gifts and two passions to pursue in my life. So I will continue with drug and alcohol rehabilitation and acting. I never left.”
