Tom Selleck Says He’s ‘Optimistic’ About ‘Blue Bloods’ Future

While it was announced that Blue blood’ 14th season would be his laststar Tom Selleck says he hopes the show has more time to tell their stories.

The actor sat down with ET’s Rachel Smith on Tuesday Promoting his new memoir, You never knowand he talked about why he feels Blue blood is “a 15-season show.”

“It’s simple – the way everything was going, we wanted to do a 14th season with 18 shows. Then, with the strike, we did a 10-show season just like everyone else,” Selleck shared. who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan on the CBS cop drama.

“But then we kept filming, and we’re filming right now,” said Selleck, 79, explaining that Season 14 was split into two parts and the second half of Season 14 didn’t air until the fall.

“I’m not just going to sit around and do a countdown [the new episodes]. “I’m going to stay optimistic because everyone on the show wants to do it,” Selleck said. “I’m just staying optimistic.”

On Selleck’s legendary TV show Magnum PI When it ended in 1988, the finale drew a huge audience and the series “became a huge success,” as Selleck explained. He wants Blue blood to get a similar chance to come out on top.

Blue blood“Right now it’s pretty successful,” Selleck said. “I’m not talking about this to brag, but [to say that] The people on our show – if and when it ends – deserve a five-star entry like this on their resume.”

“The reason I talk about it so much is actually so that the public doesn’t think that we’re just slowing down and the show is tired,” Selleck said. “We are as good as ever – and very successful.”

While fans wait for new episodes of Blue blood Selleck has written a memoir about his life in show business and his path to success, which will air in October.

“I tried to be honest and not exaggerate anything,” Selleck said of his new book. “I wasn’t planning on doing a book about who I dated, getting revenge, or politics – it’s about work… [and my] very long, somewhat accidental career.”

As Selleck explained, he never thought he would become an actor when he was younger, and while in college he thought he would become an athlete.

“I had fantasies about being a professional baseball player, but never about acting. And I never did a play, never studied or anything like that,” Selleck said. “I think I was just very lucky to grow up in the city where the company is located.”
