Tom Selleck Could Lose the Ranch After the Cancellation of Blue Bloods

Tom Selleck could lose the ranch he’s owned for decades.

For almost a decade and a half Blue blood has dominated the TV ratings. Many claim it’s a consummate CBS series – for better or worse.

Despite the high viewership, the channel decided to pull the plug after fourteen seasons.

Although veteran actor Tom Selleck admits he will never be short of comfort, he fears the loss of this series will mean he will no longer be able to afford his sprawling Ventura County estate.

“Blue Bloods” ends after season 14

In November 2023, CBS decided this Blue blood would end after fourteen seasons. Season 14 will air in two parts in 2024, with the second – and final – eight-episode part of the season beginning in fall 2024.

Since the series premiered in 2010, Tom Selleck has played the lead role of the inconspicuously named New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan.

The 79-year-old actor has had a long and illustrious career. But he may still have to sell his 63-acre ranch in California once he loses his income from this series.

Tom Selleck spoke in detail about his career CBS Sunday Morning. And he was very direct about his concerns about maintaining his ranch.

“You know, hopefully I keep working enough to keep the spot,” Selleck said.

Many may be surprised that a man who reportedly earns $200,000 a year would express himself Blue blood Episode has financial concerns of all kinds. But not only is a large portion of that money going to other people (such as agents), but also that Selleck’s cost of living is well above average.

A successful acting career rarely means endless wealth

“Seriously, this is a problem? When you stop working?” an astonished Tracy Smith asked during the interview.

“That’s always a problem,” emphasized Selleck. “If I stopped working, yes.”

He quickly clarified that doesn’t mean he’s broke: “Am I ready for life? Yes, but maybe not on a 150-acre ranch!” In other words, if he were to stop working, he would have to cut back on his expenses – including the sprawling property.

Tom Selleck first purchased the ranch in 1988. This happened after he quit Magnum: PI, which to this day is considered the quintessential cultural touchstone of the 1980s. Selleck has owned this ranch for almost the entire lifespan of the average millennial.

The accomplished actor will also turn 80 in January 2025. Although this is well past the retirement age of any decent society, he admits that he has no plans to stop acting.

“As an actor, you never lose the feeling – I certainly don’t – that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job,” he explained. “I like the fact that there are no excuses. You just go to work and get the job done. And I have a lot of respect for what I call “the work” and I love it. And that’s what I want to continue to do.”

Maybe CBS will change its mind about canceling ‘Blue Bloods’

“I will continue to assume that CBS will come to its senses,” Selleck said ambitiously. And not just for the sake of his ranch.

“We are the third most scripted show in the entire broadcast area. We win the evening. The entire cast wants to come back,” he emphasized.

Selleck continued, “And I can tell you this: We are not slipping off the cliff. We do good shows and still keep our place. Well, I don’t know. You tell me!”

Industry experts believe CBS has canceled Blue blood because of the cost of the show. Yes, it brought in huge ratings.

But sometimes networks (and streaming services) cancel a successful show because it costs money to produce – and support a worse show that gets fewer ratings because it’s expensive So cheaper that it is more profitable.

Blue blood is not without criticism or controversy, but is still relatively well regarded for what it is. And after 14 years, it still has millions of fans eager to tune in. We suspect Tom Selleck has more than just his ranch on his mind when it comes to hoping the show continues.
