ET learned that Tom Brady had no idea what the jokes would be in advance of Netflix The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady.
As with any roast, the participant has no idea what is being said about them. And like any roast, comedians and roasters target public areas of one’s life. That wasn’t a surprise. However, there was one topic that was completely off-limits, and that was Brady’s children.
That agrees with something Nikki Glaser Howard Stern told his SiriusXM show: The Howard Stern Showwhere she revealed this to everyone attending the roast decided together to keep Brady’s children away from her performance.
“We all collectively decided not to involve his kids too much in anything because they didn’t ask for it,” Glaser said, referring to Brady’s three children — Jack, 16, whom Brady shares with actress Bridget Moynahan, and Benjamin, 14 , and Vivian, 11, whom he shares with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. “So I couldn’t say, ‘Tom, hopefully we’ll make out at the after party – you can pretend I’m your son.’
While his children were off-limits to the roast, there was another topic that also became off-limits at the moment. No, not Brady’s failed marriage to Bündchen, but the owner of the New England Patriots Robert Kraft. It was Brady who intervened and warned Jeff Ross: “Don’t say that again” after the Roastmaster General addressed Kraft’s 2019 incident in which he was involved loaded with Advertising prostitution in a massage parlor in Florida. He was acquitted of all charges.
As for cuffs, a source told ET that “Gisele was upset and hurt by some of the jokes about her and her relationship with her [boyfriend] Joaquim [Valente]and her wedding to Tom during his roast.” The source added: “Her main concern is always her children and her family and she wants to protect them.” She found some of the jokes tasteless and disrespectful.
In any case, Bündchen and Brady were far from the only targets during the event. Kim Kardashian was bombarded with boos during the live broadcast in front of Netflix edited out the viral momentbecame a target for host Kevin Hart early on, but not until Brady took the microphone and went for the jugular.
“I know Kim was terrified to be here tonight,” Brady’s dig at Kardashian began. “Not because of that, but because her kids are home with their dad,” the NFL legend said in reference to Kardashian’s four children — North, 10, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, almost 5, whom she shares with her with ex-husband Kanye West.
The joke was so shocking that even Glaser told Jimmy Kimmel she was surprised Brady went there.
“One of the moments where I thought, ‘Oh, we can go there!’ “He made a joke about Kim Kardashian, who was there, which I thought was kind of taboo, right?” Nikki explained. “She is here. She has to take enough beating. She’s not on stage, but then he made a joke about it: ‘Are you more afraid of the jokes or the fact that your kids are dating Kanye?’ [West] at the moment?’ A great joke. And I thought, ‘I didn’t even know we could actually go there.'”
