Tom Brady Roast’s Surprise Guests Include Teammates and Big Stars

Some of the guests at the upcoming Tom Brady roast will be very familiar faces.

Even though Tom Brady isn’t as popular as he once was, he remains one of the few football stars to have become a mainstream celebrity. And he did so without committing an unspeakable crime or Dating Taylor Swift.

To this day he is a polarizing figure among sports fans. Many people have one much of things that can be said about him.

And they will get their chance. Not everyone who roasts him will be a comedian. Some will be fellow athletes who have known him for decades.

“The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” airs May 5

The upcoming Netflix series “Tom Brady” has a title based on Brady’s “GOAT” label. It will air on Sunday, May 5th starting at 8:00 p.m. (EST).

In the trailer, Tom Brady himself jokes: “No damn problem.” Kevin Hart hosts the event, whose slogan is: “No helmets, no mercy, no Brady Rule.”

The Brady Rule refers to the prosecutor’s legal obligation to disclose potentially exculpatory evidence during a criminal trial. However, in football, the term refers to a ban on hitting quarterbacks below the knees. In sports, we have Tom Brady to thank for this clever play on words and the politics that come with it.

Kevin Hart won’t be the only comedian in attendance. Jeff Ross, who has long held the Comedy Central title of “Roastmaster General,” appears in the trailer.

“We’re coming for you, pretty boy,” he threatens.

However, many of the Tom Brady Roast guests will not be professional comedians.

Who are the guests at Tom Brady’s roast?

On Monday, April 29, ESPN’s Adam Schefter participated Twitter to share some – but not all – of the guests at Tom Brady’s Roast.

The names on the list are familiar to NFL fans.

And one or two of them are recognizable even to people so far removed from the football world that they can only guess what “Deflategate” was about.

Rob Gronkowski

Even people who have no idea who Rob Gronkowski is or what team he played for have probably seen people writing “Gronk” on social media and were surprised to learn that it wasn’t just a rad sound effect or the name of a Pokémon.

In reality, Gronk had a truly historic career as a player alongside Tom Brady. In fact, he played with him with the New England Patriots and down in Florida with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gronk has long been known in the sports world. It will be interesting for viewers to find out if he performs well in frying.

Julian Edelman

Aside from playing with Tom Brady, Julian Edelman already has a long history of upsetting the guy. Just not at a formal roast.

On social media and in his podcast Games with names, Edelman has made fun of Brady in the past. So he has experience.

Many expect that these (extremely wealthy) guests will have comedians as ghostwriters at the roast. That seems likely. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Edelman accused Brady of some original lines.

Randy Moss

Unlike Rob Gronkowski, for example, Randy Moss only played with Tom Brady for a few seasons.

However, these were some of Brady’s greatest years as an athlete. (Moss himself is an accomplished record athlete in the NFL)

In some ways, Moss is just as polarizing as Brady himself. As a guest at the roast, his personality is guaranteed to shine.

Drew Bledsoe

Tom Brady’s rise comes 23 years after he took over as quarterback of the New England Patriots. Before taking on this role, Drew Bledsoe held it.

Presumably that means Bledsoe has had more than two decades to express his opinion about Brady as a person and player marinate.

He should definitely have some interesting comments to make. Speaking of which, that brings us to another name on the list.

Bill Belichick

For years, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has coached Tom Brady in a more professional environment.

This time he gets to do it over a real roast.

Football fans, Brady fans and Brady haters are all excited to hear what insights he has to share with us.
