Silver Gunn won at Windsor last season over the course and 1m 2f distance with a score of 80 and returns for the Gilbey’s Bar, Restaurant & Townhouse, Eton Handicap. He never really got going after that, but his mark began to decline and was now just 1 pound higher than his last win here. His fresh record is a concern, but a return to the scene of his last victory increases his chances.
Morcar He reappears in the season after gelding and wind surgery. Last year he lacked consistency but when he was in form he was really good. If the gelding surgeries today help him concentrate better, he will be fine.
Quick steps has often brought his best form to Windsor with a decent track record, including last time out when he narrowly failed. He’s now gained 2lbs but with Oisin Murphy booked out he looks to have a chance to lead.
6.09 Windsor – Fighter Command meets Liam Swagger
Liam Swagger He was clueless at the start of his debut as he slowly got going, but learned on the job being an unfortunate fifth out of five. The jockey reported that he was denied a clear run in the final furlong and the form for this race looks decent so he should have a chance to lead the race Jean & Leslie Spencer Memorial Maiden Stakes if you build on it.
Hunting Command performed admirably in defeat in both starts for John and Thady Gosden. The son of Bound appears fit after his stint at Yarmouth earlier this month.
As for the newcomers, Dramatic star This is likely to be the first foal from Group Three winner Dramatic Queen for William Haggas. If he takes after his parents, he should be fine.
2.00 Southwell – Be Here Now aiming for a hat-trick
Be here now has never been out of the placings since his handicap and Nigel Tinkler’s load has increased by 3lb for his neck win at Southwell as he returns to the track for the year Bet 10 and get 10 at Yeeehaaa.Bet Handicap.
He has shown that he doesn’t like winning by any stretch of the imagination and stays on the right side of the handicap.
Cloud King was at the track last month and was very impressive over the five-eighths distance, and the handicapper thought so too as he gained 12 pounds. He’s moved up in class here and the form hasn’t been released since, which would be worrying, but Robert Cowell could certainly get further progress out of him here.
Torvar is the most experienced of his competitors with 18 starts and three wins, but has been disappointing of late. He has to get back on his feet.
