This is the Unusual Front End of the Alfa Romeo Milano

Alfa Romeo’s new baby SUV has been leaked again ahead of its upcoming reveal, giving us a better look at the front and back.

The Alfa Romeo Milan was already seen in leaked images last September, but these latest images – shared on Instagram by carddesignworld – reveal an unusual interpretation of the brand’s traditional scudetto Shield grid.

The new crossover will be fully revealed on Thursday April 11th at 1am AEST.

Not immediately visible in the previous images, we can see that the grille area is finished in the same color as the body, but with a cutout in the shape of the Snake – or grass snake – and cross that form the Alfa Romeo logo.

Although elements of the logo are featured prominently in the grille area, there is a traditional Alfa Romeo emblem on the hood.

A mesh insert can be seen behind the radiator grille cutout. The lower grille area features a different pattern for its insert.

The headlights are shaped like a small B on the side, with a contrasting trim on the bottom that connects to the cutouts and finishes off the shield.

At the back we see the large taillight assembly that runs across the tailgate and then curves downwards.

The Milano also has distinctive shoulders and a stylish rear window. The rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillar like the old Giulietta hatchback.

Alfa Romeo has previously claimed that the Milano will offer “the best driving dynamics in its class”, with “precise steering geometry to ensure fast cornering with a high level of grip”.

While we don’t know of any powertrain specifications, we do know that the Milano is based on the e-CMP platform that also underpins the Jeep Avenger, the upcoming Lancia Ypilson and the Fiat 600.

The Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600 are both around 4.1 meters long and 1.8 meters wide, suggesting the Milano could be similar in size.

Leaked images have revealed that, like the related Avenger, it will offer the option of an internal combustion engine.

In markets such as Italy and Spain, the Avenger is offered with a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 74kW of power and a six-speed manual gearbox.

The electric version could share the baby Jeep’s 115 kW/260 Nm electric motor, the 54 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt lithium-ion battery and the 400 V electrical system. It offers a WLTP range of 400 km.

Jeep says a 100-kW DC charger can charge the Avenger’s battery from 20 to 80 percent in 24 minutes.

The Milano will be Alfa Romeo’s first electric vehicle, followed by electric successors to the current Giulia and Stelvio, as well as a new electric flagship.
