The Single-cab Ford F-150 Raptor R Looks Like a Real Hot Wheels

  • The first single-cab F-150 Raptor R we saw was built for a customer in Saudi Arabia last year.
  • The short wheelbase and 700 horsepower 5.2-liter supercharged V8 would make this F-150 an absolute joy to drive.
  • The dealer didn’t say how much weight it saved by shortening the pickup.

Late last year, PaxPower introduced a Ford F-150 Raptor R that the company converted into a single-cab truck for a customer in Saudi Arabia. Another company has now unwrapped its own single-cab Raptor R, and it’s even shorter than PaxPower’s creation.

This Ford is being reconditioned by Texas dealer McAllen Motorcars. Although the dealer didn’t detail the truck’s building process, shortening a vehicle’s wheelbase is extremely time-consuming. The front fascia is largely identical to that of the standard truck, but that’s about the only thing that’s remained unchanged.

The dealer removed the two rear doors and shortened the wheelbase by what looks like at least a foot, probably more. The cargo area appears to be identical in size to that of a standard F-150 Raptor R. A key difference from PaxPower’s single cab model is that the bed in front of the rear wheels has been extended, giving the truck slightly less odd proportions than that one.

Images published online show that this short wheelbase Raptor R is still a work in progress. If it runs right after the chassis is cut in half and welded back together it should be an absolute beast. PaxPower’s creation weighs an incredible 1,700 lbs (771 kg) less than the standard F-150 Raptor R, and this even shorter truck probably weighs less.

It’s unclear if McAllen Motorcars plans any upgrades to the truck’s engine, but none are necessary anyway. As standard, the 5.2-liter V8 supercharged engine from the Mustang Shelby GT500 delivers a massive 700 hp and 868 Nm of torque. It accelerates to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a claimed 3.6 seconds, meaning it can not only keep up with sports cars, but can also blow a few supercars off the line.
