- A white color variant for the OnePlus 12, currently exclusive to China, could soon hit the global market.
- Code indicating the release was discovered in a recent Oxygen OS update
- The variant called “Glacial White” could be available as a limited edition or in certain regions
A new color variant for the OnePlus 12 could make a global debut soon. As Android Authority first discovered, a code was found hidden in the current OxygenOS v14.0.0.608 that indicates a white color variant only available in China.
The OnePlus 12 has been on the market since February this year and has been rated as one of the best overall Android phones of 2024. The device is known for its sleek design, fast processor, ultra-fast charging speeds and epic battery life. It is currently available in two color variants: Flowly Emerald and Silky Black.
A user on Android Authority adds that the white color variant of the OnePlus 12 has only been mentioned in ColorOS builds so far, as the OnePlus 12 runs ColorOS in the region.
It remains uncertain when the company plans to release this color variant to the rest of the world. However, the mere presence of the recent OxygenOS update suggests that the Glacial White variant could also be coming to other countries. Some speculate that it could only be released in a specific region, such as the OnePlus Watch 2, which launched across Europe in April in a third Nordic Blue color variant alongside Radiant Steel and Black Steel.
Alternatively, OnePlus could follow Google’s strategy with the new Mint Green Pixel 8 and make it a limited edition to drive hype around the product in the middle of its launch cycle.
Back in 2022, OnePlus released an Extreme Edition version of the OnePlus 10 Pro that came in Panda White and featured a ceramic back with 512GB of storage. However, the company made this version exclusively for China and didn’t see an international launch, making the possible global debut of a white OnePlus 12 all the more interesting.
Where and when the Glacial White will make its debut outside of China remains to be seen. We think the wait for this new all-white option may soon be over.
