“It has been more than ten years since the last episode of The office “Airing on NBC, the acclaimed comedy series continues to grow in popularity and attract new generations of fans on Peacock,” Lisa Katz, president of NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a press release about the new series. “In collaboration with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series is set in the Dunder Mifflin universe and introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper.
The original US version of The office – itself inspired by the British comedy he created and stars in Ricky Gervais – ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2013. Over the course of its run, it was nominated for 42 Primetime Emmy Awards and won five, including Outstanding Comedy Series for Season 2.
The series has continued to enjoy popularity on streaming, with Nielsen naming it one of the most streamed television shows each year. Actually, The show broke a streaming record in 2020, representing 57.1 billion minutes of viewing. (The record was later broken in 2023 when viewers watched 57.7 billion minutes Suits.)

PRODUCTION AND PREMIERE DATE
Production on the new series is scheduled to begin in July 2024, although details on a possible premiere date are still pending.
