The Morning After: Meta Offers Thousands of Dollars in Bonuses to Popular Threads Users

Meta offers some YouTubers thousands of dollars if they go viral in threads. The payouts are part of a new invitation-only bonus program that rewards developers who use Meta’s latest app.

An Instagram offers some details. It says that creators can earn money “based on the performance of your Threads posts” or “the number of posts you create.” So choose either quality or quantity, it seems. It seems that the conditions for the bonuses are different for each creator.

According to Threads, at least one creator was offered “up to $5,000” for Threads posts or replies with 10,000 views or more. Unfortunately, we can’t see how many views this screenshot has so far and whether he’s making any money from it.

While it’s not nearly as large as the $10,000 bonuses Reels creators have been able to earn in the past, it’s still quite generous considering the lower effort required to write a thread.

The company calls it a “testing phase,” but offers a preview of how Meta might try to increase engagement on the service. It’s the same playbook as Meta on Facebook and Instagram.
