It’s been five years since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, and we’re finally seeing that really pay off on the film side. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes coming to cinemas next week, Alien: Romulus And Deadpool and Wolverine are later this summer. Which Fox films are next in line for a comeback? The Maze runner Series, of course.

Per the Hollywood Reporter20th Century Studios wants to reissue the young science fiction films for a new generation. Leading this effort is author Jack Paglen, best known for the 2014 sci-fi thriller transcendence starring Johnny Depp. Sources speaking to THR claim that the reboot aims to continue the original story while returning to the roots of the original film.

In case you forgot: the original Maze runner– Directed by Wes Ball, who directs kingdom (and finally Legend of Zelda) and will produce this new film, released in 2014 and based on the dystopian young adult books by James Dashner. Dylan O’Brien starred as an amnesiac child named Thomas who woke up on a large lawn in other boys’ house, which was also surrounded by a house firmly Labyrinth. Thomas was deeply curious and couldn’t shake the fact that something was going on. He worked to uncover the secrets of the labyrinth and find a way for him and the other Gladers to escape.

The Maze runner The franchise was one of many that tried to pursue it Hunger Games And dusk money and was successful in the end. The first film grossed $348.3 million (on a budget of $34 million), and the two sequels were released in 2015 Scorch Trials and 2018 Death healing– were the same size at $312.3 million and $288.2 million, respectively. (The latter film was drastically delayed after O’Brien was hospitalized for serious injuries and had to recover.)

Not long after the merger was completed, Disney confirmed that the company would eventually be re-formed Maze runner Movies. Instead of pulling one Hunger Games and making a movie or two based on the previously released prequel books The order to kill And fever code, It looks like Disney has decided to start over. These days, restarting the not-so-old YA fare seems like the right move dusk and (probably) Percy Jackson are any clues. The original labyrinth The films were pretty entertaining, solid films, so let’s hope the same goes for this reboot whenever it hits theaters.
