After debuting the first gaming phone in the budget segment last year, Infinix is back with another gaming phone with the new Infinix GT 20 Pro.
The Infinix GT 20 Pro follows the design closely of its predecessor, the GT 10 Pro – the huge camera module with large lens covers is still present, although new sets of LEDs have been added to the back, producing eight color combinations and four lighting effects. Notes Infinix.
The device is 8.15 mm thick and weighs 194 grams. It has three interesting color variants: Mecha Blue, Mecha Orange and Mecha Silver. The device also has an IP54 rating for splash and dust resistance.
The GT 20 Pro’s display has seen a significant improvement compared to the previous version; The AMOLED panel is now larger, measuring 6.78 inches, and the refresh rate is also 144 Hz – instead of 120 Hz.
Below, the GT 20 Pro is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate and promises clock speeds of up to 3.1 GHz and a Mali G610 MC6 chip. Since this is a gaming device, Infinix is also adding a new gaming display chip, the Pixelworks X5 Turbo. Together, both promise a better gaming experience as frame rates are increased from 60 fps to 120 fps. Additionally, it features a larger VC liquid cooling system than the previous model.
Last year, the company only sold the 8GB + 256GB configuration of the GT 10 Pro, but the GT 20 Pro has a new 12GB RAM variant. The device once again has a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh and supports 45W fast charging.
The cameras remain unchanged, as the GT 20 Pro still has a 108 MP main camera in addition to two 2 MP cameras. On the front, the device has a 32 MP lens for selfies. The phone supports 4K at 60 frames per second for video – an increase from 30 frames per second compared to last year’s model.
The new gaming phone also ships with XOS 14, which is based on Android 14. Unlike last year, which came with the promise of a major Android version update, Infinix is promising two major Android upgrades and three years of security updates, a welcome addition.
It’s encouraging to see Infinix addressing some of the drawbacks of last year’s model, which Android Central’s Harish Jonnalagadda brought up in his Infinix GT 10 Pro review. Although the company has announced the device, pricing and availability has yet to be announced, although we’ll likely hear more in the coming weeks.
