Japanese sports and superbike manufacturer Kawasaki is gearing up to unveil the redesigned and locally manufactured version of its highly anticipated Versys-X 300. Autocar India reported that this motorcycle could be launched later this year. Kawasaki is aiming for extensive localization of this already popular adventure motorcycle. Recently, a prototype of the localized Kawasaki Versys-X 300 was spotted testing in the country.

Once launched, the new Versys-X 300 will be Kawasaki’s third model to be manufactured in India. It will follow in the footsteps of the Ninja 300 and the W175. According to the reports, Kawasaki plans to utilize its local resources and production capacity.
This will help Kawasaki optimize manufacturing costs. Additionally, it will help the company offer competitive pricing in the price-sensitive Indian market. Earlier, this bike cost Rs 4.6 lakh, which many thought was extremely high.
Versys-X 300: Details
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is a quintessential adventure motorcycle. It features a tall windshield, an aggressive-looking front fascia and large side panels. It also features a raised exhaust and a high ride height.
Coming to the mechanical specifications, this motorcycle will feature a conventional telescopic fork at the front. There should be a mono shock absorber in the rear. The braking system of the Versys-X 300 will include disc brakes at both ends supported by dual-channel ABS.
Additionally, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 will ride on 19- and 17-inch spoked wheels and tubular tires. The total weight of this adventure motorcycle is approximately 185 kg. In addition, the ground clearance will be about 180 mm. This high ride height and ground clearance help the bike when riding off-road.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300: Engine
As for powering this adventure motorcycle, it is offered with a powerful 296cc parallel twin engine. This engine is also shared with the legendary Ninja 300. While powering the Versys-X 300, it will have 39 horsepower and 26.1 Nm of torque. This powerful engine is combined with a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki Versys-X 300: competitors and prices
This upcoming motorcycle will be in the 300-500cc adventure motorcycle segment. Once launched, the Versys-X 300 will compete with models like the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G 310 GS. It will also compete against the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
Industry insiders believe that the Versys-X 300 will be competitively priced between Rs 3.6 and Rs 3.9 lakh (ex-showroom). This will be a significant departure from the previous sky-high price of Rs 4.6 lakh. Most likely, this time the bike will represent strong competition to the motorcycles that are already successful in this segment.
2024 Kawasaki Z900 launched in India
Earlier in February this year, Kawasaki launched the 2024 Kawasaki Z900 in the country. The updated Kawasaki Z900 has been launched at a price of Rs 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Rs 9,000 more than the last year’s model bike.
The 2024 Z900 is equipped with a 948 cc inline four-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a maximum power of 123.6 hp and a torque of 98.6 Nm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
