The Eufy X10 Pro Omni’s AI Smarts Are Worth the Price

Like last year’s model, it also meets TÜV Rheinland’s data protection and security certification. This is important because navigation is done via AI.See – a “visual recognition technology”. Basically, it uses a camera to control your house. It is not upward facing and Eufy assures its customers that the photos are not stored on a server and deleted before the next cleaning cycle. However, Eufy does not offer any additional security features such as two-factor authentication. This is something to keep in mind if you are concerned about having a camera in your home.

AI.See is interesting. Its estimates of its own accuracy seem generous – I forgot to scan all the instances where it identified the various parts of my daughter’s hair as poop and warned me to “clean that area immediately.” I believe it helped the robot navigate my house seamlessly. The few times it got stuck, I found that the brush roll had gotten caught in either my daughter’s or my long hair. It’s understandably much harder to detect hair than it is to detect and avoid shoelaces, which cause tripping in even the best robot vacuums.

There are five rooms on my first floor with a total of about 750 square feet of cleanable space, depending on how far my kids’ stuffed animals are scattered. The mapping function works quite well; Multiple maps were stored on multiple floors without any problem. Battery life is decent – a full first floor vacuum can be done in about an hour and a half, using about 75 percent of its battery life. You can also increase or decrease the cleaning intensity, from fast to deep, and the suction power ranges from quiet to maximum.

At Max the suction power is around 8,000 Pascals. I have a theory about suction. As I learned from the founders of the Matic robot vacuum, the amount of suction power may be less important than whether your brushroll can thoroughly agitate the carpet. In any case, I didn’t notice much of a difference in the cleanliness of the high-traffic areas of my carpet when I increased the suction power from Standard to Max.

The price is correct

The mopping is particularly good. The X9 Pro was able to mop up half a jar of spilled syrup, and the X10 Pro works just as well. Like last year’s model, it applies about 2 pounds of downward pressure with two mops rotating 180 times per minute. When my kids inexplicably decided to throw bananas on the breakfast table and leave sticky banana pulp on the floor, the X10 Pro cleaned up the problem in minutes.

Mopping is the most disgusting household chore and the one I would least likely do if I could. Mopping the hardwood and tile surfaces of my first floor (approximately 20 square feet) takes about 30 minutes, including the time I spent washing the mops. An integrated water tank keeps the mops continuously moist throughout the cleaning time. The dirty water tank must be emptied and rinsed every three to four cleanings. Draining and flushing the tank is, as always, a nasty and horrible task, but at least it doesn’t happen that often.
