It is often critical of the Catholic Church, but leaves plenty of room for exploration of individual beliefs (including satanic ones). It also has an excellent selection of likeable and likeable ones deliciously villainous characters– in addition to the core trio, supporting cast (Christine Lahti as Kristen’s smarmy mother Sheryl; Michael Emerson as satanic servant Leland Townsend) and guest stars (Andrea Martin as a straight-laced nun, the various Broadway heavyweights appearing as). “In the upcoming season, Kristen, David and Ben continue to investigate cases involving wayward technology, possessed pigs, demonic oppression and plague, a dancing muse summoned by alleged witches and an evil relic. Meanwhile, Leland tries to trick Kristen into raising an anti-Christian baby conceived using her egg. David is recruited by the Vatican Secret Service to develop “Remote View,” a paranormal ability to see the invisible in order to detect evil. Ben is hit by an ion beam, causing him to see visions of a mocking djinn until he finds an unusual solution to banish him. Ultimately, all three realize that they only have a few weeks left to assess the cases because the municipality has decided to disband the team due to lack of funds. This culminates in a final confrontation with Leland and the 60 families that represent evil in the modern world.”
