Taylor, 33, wore a scarlet floral dress with a thigh-high slit, which she paired with gold jewelry and sandals. As Taylor walked the red carpet in New York City on Monday, May 6, Shumpert, 33, raised eyebrows go on social media to seemingly compliment his ex.
“Yes, you ate… but I’m not telling you,” Shumpert wrote on X shortly after Taylor was photographed on fashion’s biggest night.
In response, one social media user asked why Shumpert chose to “tell us” rather than the person who inspired the post. “Of course, so you can tell her… and I don’t have to… Are you guys being silly or just kidding me 😏,” Shumpert replied.
The former couple does not often publicly acknowledge each other during their divorce proceedings. Taylor shocked people when he announced in September 2023 that she and Shumpert had been separated “for some time” but were still committed to co-parenting their children. (Shumpert and Taylor share two daughters: Junie, 8, and Rue, 3.)
“To be clear, ‘infidelity’ is not one of the reasons we left,” she wrote via Instagram. “We are still best friends, great business partners and a great team when it comes to raising our two wonderful children together.”
Taylor continued: “Most importantly, we are a FAMILY and in our ten years together and our seventh years of marriage we have never played with it or about it. We’re just keeping you all out of the group chat lol, so we were able to part ways successfully and peacefully without all the outside noise.”
In November 2023, it was revealed that Taylor had actually filed for divorce earlier that year. Taylor continued to request privacy as the couple considered the next steps for their family.

“I mind my business, don’t bother anyone and you all know I have never cared about my children, my family and our privacy,” she wrote in an Instagram Story statement in November 2023. “Protecting my family and my children is one thing I have ALWAYS done [and] I will continue to do that. Please, if you love your nieces Junie and Rue as much as you have shown, please allow me and my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace. Love y’all.”
Shumpert, meanwhile, made headlines in December 2023 when he responded to Taylor’s claims that she felt threatened in her relationship before their split. He said in court papers that Taylor couldn’t prove he made her feel unsafe.
Taylor reportedly cited “cruel treatment” as the reason for the dissolution of the couple’s seven-year marriage. However, Shumpert denied the claims and noted that the reason for their breakup was an “irretrievably broken bond.” Shumpert also requested that the allegations be removed from Taylor’s motion.
