Tesla Cybertruck is Ready to Tackle the Toughest Terrain with New Off-road Modes

  • Tesla has given the electric truck new modes to support it even in the most difficult terrain.
  • Dual-engine models come standard with front and rear limited-slip differentials.
  • A new CyberTent mode also balances the suspension to make sleeping in the truck more comfortable.

The Tesla Cybertruck has become even more powerful thanks to several new features developed by the carmaker. These new features have already been introduced in the first wave of Cybertrucks shipped and will soon be more widely available.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9-9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(” 6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657″); } });

Most drivers won’t notice any significant changes unless they plan to go off-road. If so, you’ll find two new off-road modes: Overland and Baja. The first mode is intended to improve handling and traction when driving on rock, gravel, deep snow or sand, while Baja mode is intended to improve balance.

Both modes activate the truck’s external functions, making it easier to detect obstacles. There is one camera on the front, two cameras on the sides and one camera on the back. Tesla has also made Wade Mode accessible via a single button.

All dual-engine Cybertrucks are equipped with front and rear locking differentials that can be activated or deactivated in off-road mode. On the three-motor Cyberbeast, Overland mode must be engaged to gain access to the front limited-slip differential. A “virtual” rear locking differential is automatically activated.

There are other useful features too. For example, Tesla added Trail Assist, which serves as a cruise control system for off-road use and includes hill climb and descent control. Should the owner encounter snow, ice or wet and slippery roads, they can activate the “Slippery Surface” function to better distribute traction across all four tires.

Tesla has also worked its magic with adaptive suspension, saying it now “estimates payload more accurately and automatically adjusts damping” to improve the driving experience.

A special “CyberTent” mode has also been added, perfect for customers who spent $3,000 on the tent. This mode automatically levels the suspension regardless of the terrain.
