Tesla Cybertruck Becomes Stranded Shortly After Arriving in Nantucket

  • The first Tesla Cybertruck to visit Nantucket got stuck in beach sand almost immediately.
  • A towing company reportedly rescued the Tesla before the flood hit.
  • The whole ordeal is a fond reminder for anyone planning to drive a vehicle to a beach.

Vehicles of all shapes and sizes often get stuck on beaches. However, if the vehicle in question is the supposedly extremely capable Cybertruck, a more interesting story emerges. This scenario played out again, this time just hours after his arrival on Nantucket.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:[]}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9-9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(” 6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657″); } });

Reports from the scene suggest that there is a lesson to be learned from how this truck with the battery got stuck deep in the sand.

Apparently, this silver Tesla is the first Cybertruck to arrive on the island of Massachusetts since production began late last year. Several people in the community spotted it on Thursday, but by early evening it had stopped moving in the area. Of course, that’s because it was stuck on Eel Point Beach on the far west side of Nantucket.

window._taboola = window._taboola || []; _taboola.push({ mode: ‘thumbnails-a-mid’, container: ‘taboola-mid-article’, placement: ‘Mid Article’, target_type: ‘mix’ });

window._taboola = window._taboola || []; _taboola.push({ mode: ‘thumbnails-oc-2×1’, container: ‘taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic’, placement: ‘Mid Article Thumbnails Organic’, target_type: ‘mix’ });

Whether or not this truck has Tesla’s off-road update is unclear, but honestly, it might be a moot point when you’re dealing with 6,000+ pound electric trucks that sink in soft sand.

According to Nantucket Current, the owner was “super nice… just a newbie who made the usual mistakes.” Photos appear to show he managed to move a few feet in either direction when the driver tried to get it out of the way to free sand. According to the local report, a towing company managed to recover it from the beach.

Some in town refer to this as karma for the owner. Photos of the same Cybertruck from earlier in the day show it parked in places it shouldn’t be. In one photo it is parked in a crosswalk and in another it is quadruple parked in multiple spaces. Nobody likes it when a person parks like they are entitled to special treatment with their vehicle.

Ultimately, this is an excellent learning experience for anyone interested in driving their vehicle on sand. Four-wheel drive and some pseudo-chunky tires aren’t all that’s required. In this case, it would have helped to deflate the tires to create a wider contact patch.

Additionally, you should utilize the technology built into a vehicle to handle such situations. For example, use Off-Road mode or, in this case, Extract mode as soon as things go wrong. Learn from this guy and avoid getting stuck yourself or, worse, parking like an entitled tool.
