As he recalled weeks later on his “New Heights” podcast, the three-time Super Bowl champion planned to give Swift a DIY friendship bracelet with his phone number written in beads. However, they never met and Kelce felt “shocked” by the rejection.
One of Swift’s friends later alerted her to his podcast comments and she got in touch.
“It all started when Travis got me in such an adorable mood on his podcast that I thought it was metal as hell,” Swift said TIME. “We actually had a lot of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for because we got to know each other.”

Swift and Kelce took their romance to the next level in September 2023 when she went to her first Chiefs game. “When I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she told the magazine. “I think some people think they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to go on a first date with all our might.”

Tim Warner/Getty ImagesSwift attended 12 other Chiefs games, including Super Bowl LVIII in February. After the team won the Lombardi Trophy for the second year in a row, Swift celebrated with Kelce and the team on the field.
Since Kelce is currently in his NFL offseason, he was able to spend some quality time with Swift. After flying out to watch some of their international matches Epochs shows, Kelce hunkered down with Swift in her Los Angeles apartment. They also enjoyed a private getaway in the Bahamas before attending Coachella to visit their friends’ sets earlier this month.
During this break, Swift also released her eleventh studio album. The Tortured Poets Departmenton April 19 with several songs that seem to have nice references to Kelce and his Chiefs teammates.
“These guys are warming the benches / We’re on a winning streak,” Swift sings in “The Alchemy,” presumably referring to the Chiefs’ record in the 2023-2024 season. “He jokes, ‘It’s heroin, but this time.'” with an E’ / ‘Cause the mark on your heart / Said it’s still reserved for me.”
She continues: “Shirts off and your friends lifting you over their heads / The beer sticks to the floor, cheers are shouted ’cause they said / There was no chance of being the best in the league / Where’s the trophy?” / He just comes running towards me.”
