Indian national cricket team’s 23-year-old leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was ignored when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the provisional 15-man squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World on Tuesday, April 30 Cup 2024 announced.
The 2024 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1 to 29. The upcoming T20 World Cup will be the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the England national cricket team will enter the competition as defending champions as they defeated Pakistan in the final of the 2022 edition in Australia. Additionally, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be the first time that 20 teams will take part in the competition.
Meanwhile, Ravi Bishnoi made his T20I debut for India in February 2022 and has been a regular member of the team’s playing XI for the past year or so. Bishnoi has also done an excellent job for the team and picked up 36 wickets in just 24 matches that he played for the team in T20Is. He took his wickets at an average of 19.52, an economy of 7.50 and a strike rate of 15.6 with best bowling figures of 4/16.
Due to his brilliant performances, Ravi Bishnoi climbed to No. 1 in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings in December. He is currently tied with Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana at 5th place in the rankings and has 659 rating points.
The young spinner’s form recently saw a dip in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League and Ravi Bishnoi has failed to take wickets regularly for LSG. In 9 matches of IPL 2024, Ravi Bishnoi has picked up 5 wickets at an average of 45.00, economy of 8.77 and strike rate of 30.80.
Ravi Bishnoi’s poor form may have contributed to his rejection from the World Cup as India fielded four spinners in the 15-man squad with Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. When Irfan Pathan saw Ravi Bishnoi being ignored in the World Cup, he said opposite

Once No. 1 T20 bowler and now No. 5 T20I bowler in the international rankings, Ravi Bishnoi was not even in the reserves, Bishnoi was wronged.
Should have at least been in reserve. Yuzi Chahal has done well in the IPL but hope he can make it in the T20 World Cup if he gets the chance.

Hardik, Jadeja, Pant and Chahal will be automatically selected even though they haven’t played any games recently or have been crappy at playing, while Rinku Singh and Ravi Bishnoi, who are the best in their roles, will not be considered.
