Sydney Sweeney She attracted everyone’s attention at this year’s Met Gala – especially because she was almost unrecognizable. The 26-year-old actress hit the red carpet on Monday, May 6, in a stunning aquamarine ball gown that featured forest-themed accents on the skirt. However, it was her hairstyle that caused a stir.
The Everyone but you The star appeared to wear a jet black wig for the evening, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. However, it’s still unclear whether the look is a result of her real hair being dyed from blonde to jet black. Sydney’s ball gown also nodded to you Cinderella-inspired look as the silhouette and color matched the iconic look of the fairytale princess.
The theme of the 2024 event was “The Garden of Time,” in keeping with the Costume Institute’s “Thorn Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibition.
The euphoria Star is no newcomer to fashion’s biggest night. Last year, she wore a beige, sparkly bodycon dress for the 2023 occasion and wore her hair in natural waves.
Sydney fans were keen to know whether or not she would be taking part in this year’s star-studded event. She teased it in March PEOPLE that she “maybe, maybe not” thought about going.
“Honestly, I’m just in the mood, no matter what’s going on,” she said at the time. “It’s always a little different. That’s the beauty of it all, it’s like dressing up. It’s boring doing the same thing over and over again… Maybe, maybe not. Maybe I’ll work. We’re trying to figure it out, so we’ll see.”
Last month, Sydney hit the headlines after a Hollywood producer named Carol Baum openly criticized her and the romantic comedy film she starred in Glen Powell. According to several media outlets, Carol told her university students. “I don’t understand Sydney Sweeney. I saw the Sydney Sweeney film on the plane because I wanted to see it. I wanted to know who she is and why everyone is talking about her. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’
Reacting to the comment, a representative for Sydney called the producer’s comment “shameful.”
“How sad that a woman who is in a position to share her expertise and experience would instead choose to attack another woman,” Sydney’s representative said. “If that’s what she’s learned over her decades in the industry and sees fit to teach it to her students, then that’s shameful.”
