Sonam Kapoor Says She Gained 32 Kilos After Giving Birth to Son: ‘Honestly, I Was Traumatized…’

Sonam Kapoor, who debuted in Bollywood with Saawariya, is one of the most popular names in the Hindi film industry. Sonam Kapoor says she was traumatized when she gained 32 kilos after giving birth

Recently, during her conversation with Pernia Qureshi on her talk show, Fashionable from PerniaAfter the birth of her son, Sonam spoke about her fashion choices. She shared that at first everyone thought everything would go back to normal after giving birth. However, this is not the case. Sonam revealed that she gained 32 kilos after giving birth to her son and was traumatized by it, adding:

“I gained 32 kilos. Honestly, I was so traumatized at first that even though people say it, you feel like once the kid comes out you’ll be back to normal. I know you honestly feel like everything is going to be okay and you’re so obsessed with your baby that you really don’t think about exercising and eating right and stuff like that because you initially breastfed , and so do you. I’m in pain and there’s so much going on.”

Sonam Kapoor adds that everything changes after embracing motherhood

Continuing her thoughts on the same topic, Sonam revealed that she took it slow and took a year and a half to adjust to her new life as a mother. In addition, she also mentioned that after accepting motherhood, everything in life changes, even relationships with parents, husband and oneself.

“It took me a year and a half to really take it slow. You have to be slow because you have to get used to the new you and everything in your life is changing. Your relationship with yourself changes, with your parents changes, with your husband (changes), everything changes, and you cannot rush into feelings, you will never feel the way you used to about yourself, about anything. You’ll never feel your body the same way, and I just feel like your body is a metaphor for your life being a new life and a new change.”

Sonam Kapoor shares that she has always accepted herself as she is

Furthermore, in the same conversation, Sonam said that she has always accepted herself as she is. The actress emphasized that she will no longer look the same as she used to when she was 16 or 25 years old. Sonam mentioned that once this acceptance comes to people, one would start dressing accordingly. In her words:

“I’ve always accepted myself for who I am and I felt like I had to accept this version of myself. I’ll never look the same as I did when I was 16. I’ll never look the same as I did when I was 25, and now I’m 38 and that’s who I am. I had a baby and that’s it This body created this child and that’s incredible and you have to accept it and you have to take time to accept it and um and once that acceptance comes then you start, to dress you the way I have always dressed my body.”

The presenter then praised the actress and said that she always dressed to suit her body and that’s exactly what she did in style. Afterwards, Sonam said that she used to wear loose-fitting, bohemian-chic clothes and that changed after giving birth. The actress now opts for figure-hugging clothing to accentuate her newfound curves.
