Snoop Dogg Talks ‘The Voice’ Coach Role: ‘I’m for Everyone’

On Monday, May 13, NBC announced that the 52-year-old rapper would be joining Michael Buble and returning coaches Reba McEntire And Gwen Stefani in the 26th season of the long-running music competition series. Snoop also appeared on Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss how much he is looking forward to the performance.

“If you know anything about me, you know that I love all forms of music,” Snoop told the host Jimmy Fallon. “This is a great opportunity for me to show that I really understand music. And be a real coach and really give direction to some of these artists that can be the next big thing today.”

Snoop Dogg (born Calvin Broadus Jr.) also likes to show more depth to his musical voice, especially if viewers are only familiar with his 1990s hip-hop work. “That’s what people will learn about me, that’s why I feel like people [are] attract[ed] me. I’m not one-sided,” he explained. “I’m not just for you. I’m here for everyone. I am the people’s champion.”

Before sitting in the big red Voice chair, Snoop Dogg will fly overseas to support NBC at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France. Snoop will report for primetime coverage on NBC and Peacock beginning July 26. Snoop previously worked with the network during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the Tokyo Games, Snoop went viral for a clip of himself reacting to an equestrian and a “crip-walking” horse.

“I’m going to meet the horse in real life,” Snoop Dogg told Fallon, 49, on Monday Tonight’s show. “He is the returning champion. So I have to meet him – you know what I mean? – and let him know I’m a big fan.”
