Skoda Kushaq and Slavia Now Get 6 Airbags as Standard

Skoda Auto India is taking a significant step forward to ensure the safety of passengers in their vehicles. The brand took a significant step towards safety with the introduction of six airbags as standard in the Kushaq compact SUVs and Slavia sedans. This move will not only increase the safety factor of these vehicles but also increase their demand among Indian consumers who are now more inclined to buy safer cars.

Previously, only the upper Style trims of the Slavia and Kushaq models had six airbags, while lower variants only had two airbags. Since six airbags are now standard in all variants, the safety standards of these vehicles have been increased.

Both cars have seen a slight increase in price, with the Kushaq priced between Rs 11.99 and Rs 19.79 lakh and the Slavia priced between Rs 11.63 and Rs 18.83 lakh. Please note that all prices quoted are ex-showroom.

Prices have increased by Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 35,000 depending on features. Special edition variants such as Monte Carlo, Style Edition and Elegance Edition already offered six airbags as standard.

2024 Skoda celebrates 6 airbags

Both Kushaq and Slavia received a five-star rating in the global NCAP crash test, demonstrating its world-class safety standards for adult and child occupants. Both Slavia and Kushaq were tested after GNCAP updated its security protocols.

Safety has always been an integral part of Skoda’s DNA. We were the first brand to achieve a full five-star rating in Global NCAP testing for both adults and children. Our focus on safety embodies our human touch approach and underlines our focus on being a family brand. We have always offered front airbags in our base variants and six in our higher variants, each as safe as the next. As part of our MY24 updates, we now offer six airbags for all variants of the Kushaq and Slavia. We always have an open ear for our customers and will continue to offer relevant upgrades and significant product promotions within our product portfolio and variant rangesaid Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India

Apart from introducing six airbags across all variants, Skoda has also introduced new features as part of the company’s MY2024 updates to its India 2.0 product portfolio. Comfort and comfort functions such as electric seats for driver and front passenger, an illuminated footwell area and a 25.4 cm infotainment screen with Skoda Play apps are added in the top variants. Some of these changes were already introduced by the company in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Both the Kushaq and the Slavia are based on the MQB-A0-IN platform developed for India. These Indian-made cars are also exported to other right-hand drive and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) countries.

This was the first made-in-India platform to achieve a double 5-star rating under Global NCAP’s stringent testing protocols. Some reports suggest that Skoda could introduce advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in both vehicles to further increase safety and keep up with the competition.
