Shemar Moore Praises ‘SWAT’ Season 8 for Weathering Change

Shemar Moore is thrilled Clap Season 8 is just around the corner.

Moore, 54, spoke exclusively to Us weekly at the CBS Fall Schedule Celebration at the Paramount lot in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 2, and discussed the previously canceled show’s return to the small screen.

Moore told Us that “none of us expected an eighth season,” but he was definitely hoping for one. “I can’t say I expected it,” he said Us. “That would be a little arrogant, but I believed in it. I really did. And I knew it was against all odds, but I don’t know – it’s been my whole life.”

“My mom raised me that way,” Moore continued. “If they don’t knock you out and force you to your knees, that’s fine. But you get up. … I’m just proud of what we’ve accomplished in seven seasons. … They cut our budgets and we made it happen. They moved us through the seasons that night or that night or that window of time. We made it possible.”

The actor noted that at the start of Season 7, he was ready to say goodbye to the hit series by making sure fans “didn’t want us to leave.”

Dizon explained that after long days on set, she gives Moore “a lot of space and time to sleep when he needs sleep.”

“And chicken and rice!” Moore joked. “She makes great chicken and rice.”

Clap released in 2017 and follows Harrelson and his team of tough cops as they fight crime in Los Angeles. The eighth season is scheduled to air this fall with 22 episodes. This extension is unexpected considering CBS had previously stated that Season 7 would mark the conclusion of the series.
