EXCLUSIVE: A new, series-focused festival is set to join the calendar in the fall.

Described as an “international festival for series culture,” Seriesly Berlin kicks off in the German capital this September and runs for two days (September 26-27) at Fotografiska Berlin.

The Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises are partners and financial sponsors of the event, which is led by German industry veteran Eike Faecks and his newly founded company Regime Media.

The festival program takes place in several rooms at Fotografiska Berlin, a multifunctional art and cultural venue in Berlin-Mitte. Organizers have announced that in addition to an industry section, there will also be a competitive festival strand for series projects, including conferences, panels, masterclass sessions and networking events such as speed date pitches for authors, producers and industry professionals working in fiction and non-fiction . Festival screenings are open to the general public.

For the first edition, the industrial sector will focus on the following topics: the production of high-quality material in times of tight budgets and the possibilities of international co-production. Other key topics will be the new draft of the German Film Funding Act and its impact on the production landscape, the creative, legal and economic impact of artificial intelligence on the industry, and diversity and representation in storytelling and casting.
