Due to the climate crisis and geopolitical tensions, energy security is not guaranteed today. Resilience can be improved by ensuring on-site access and storage of various energy sources quickly, efficiently and safely. As an integral part of a microgrid system, BESS captures energy from various sources, accumulates that energy, and stores it in rechargeable batteries for later use. BESS consists of battery modules, battery racks, a battery management system, a power conversion unit and a controller and has been tested and validated as an integral component with Schneider Electric’s microgrid systems. It is also fully integrated with the software suite that includes EcoStruxure Microgrid Operation and EcoStruxure Microgrid Advisor. With defined commercial references and options, choices including configuration and advanced security controls, BESS minimizes energy costs and offers the following features:

  • Complete integration options: The all-in-one enclosure seamlessly integrates pre-integrated components, streamlining on-site design, construction and installation processes while minimizing labor and material costs. The parallelization feature allows multiple BESS units to function as one unit. This comprehensive integration includes inverters, batteries, cooling systems, transformers, security features and controls, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Easy installation and maintenance: The ready-to-use system with Tested, Validated and Documented Architecture (TVDA) simplifies installation processes and provides efficiency compared to traditional bespoke designs. The solution also integrates seamlessly with Schneider Electric’s energy management systems (EMS), significantly reducing integration time and minimizing field errors.
  • Safety compliant: The solution is fully certified to meet ANSI/UL standards for use in multiple regions and features a state-of-the-art fire protection system design.
  • Resilience: The system provides bi-directional connectivity to the grid and offers the flexibility to operate either on-grid or off-grid. With the ability to store energy for immediate access during outages, BESS can supply up to 2 MW of power when needed.
  • Peace of mind: Comprehensive services and support throughout the entire project life cycle and warranty processing for optimal maintenance and care.

The BESS is available in a 20-foot NEMA 3R enclosure with AC coupling and from 250 kW to 2 MW in 2-hour and 4-hour configurations.
