Sachin Tendulkar Reacts to Abhishek Sharma’s Travis Head Hit Against LSG as SRH Knock MI Out of IPL 2024

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar had a brilliant reaction to Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head’s whirlwind performance against Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday (May 8).

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s openers blew LSG away as they led their team to a historic 10-wicket win in the decider. After suffering a seven-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians in the last game, SRH needed to win the game to improve their playoff chances and they won it in style.

The Hyderabad-based team had set a target of 166 runs and managed to reach the total in just 9.4 overs, thereby creating history. They broke the record for the highest total in 10 overs. Head and Sharma gave everything against LSG to lead their team to their seventh win of the season.

Both batters were at full strength from the start. The head smashed a 16-ball fifty while Sharma managed it in just 19 balls. Head scored an unbeaten 89 runs off just 30 balls with the help of eight fours and eight sixes. On the other hand, Sharma remained unbeaten on 75 runs. His knock came in just 28 balls and was studded with eight fours and six sixes.

Head and Sharma’s swirling batting left everyone in the cricketing fraternity stunned. Not only the fans, but also current and former players were amazed by her powerful punch. Sachin Tendulkar, arguably the most decorated batsman in the history of the game, also had a similar reaction. The former Indian batsman stated that SRH would have scored 300 runs had they batted first.

“A destructive opening partnership would be an understatement tonight. If these guys had fought first, they would have scored 300 points!” Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Mumbai Indians fall unconscious:

While Sachin Tendulkar was mightily impressed by Head and Sharma’s batting, SRH’s win also knocked Mumbai Indians out of IPL 2024. The former cricketer is currently part of the Mumbai Indians support staff. Mumbai Indians are currently ninth in the points table with 8 points from 12 games.

Even if they won their remaining two league games, they would still end up with 12 points. However, it is confirmed that at least four teams will finish with at least 14 points this season. Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have 16 points while SRH currently has 14 points.

On the other hand, the clash between Delhi Capitals and LSG will reach 14 points after the match between them. As a result, Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from IPL 2024 in the league phase.
