“She is with the girls and when she works, I also stay at home with the girls. “I couldn’t be here without her,” Gosling, 43, said Extra at the red carpet event on Tuesday, April 30th. (The couple, who have been together since 2011, share daughters Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 8.)
Gosling further noted that in addition to being his longtime love, Mendes, 50, has become “the best acting coach I’ve ever had,” adding, “It’s endless how much she helps me.”
As his “acting coach,” Gosling said Mendes had one desire when it came to filming dangerous stunts The Guy case. “Don’t light a fire,” he told Extra. “It was also a request from my children: ‘Make a stunt film, but don’t get set on fire.'”

When asked if he and his daughters served as inspiration for the book, Gosling told the outlet, “I won’t [Eva] speak for it. It’s such a beautiful book, it took a few years to write. We have read a lot of children’s books and it is one of the best I have ever read. It’s really about something, and something beautiful.”
He continued to praise Mendes by addressing her inclusion on the list People‘s 2024 Beautiful Issue, which states: “Basically it should just be her in the issue, but I understand that other people need to be in there.”

Gosling called her “the girl of my dreams” when he accepted the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in January.
That same month, Mendes defended her husband after he was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Best Supporting Actor Barbie. “So proud of my husband. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people are trying to shame him for this,” she wrote via Instagram. “Despite all the #Notmyken mockers and all the articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking and now iconic character and took him all the way to the Oscars. I’m beyond proud to be Ken’s Barbie 💕.”
