As you may have heard, Rob Marciano has been fired.
The meteorologist, who was rehired by ABC in 2014, was fired by management this week after being temporarily banned from the set of Good Morning America last year for allegedly inappropriate behavior.
However, despite this punishment, Marciano continued to report on the weather other Locations.
It was an unusual situation, to say the least.
Without any public comment from producers or Marciano, we don’t know the reason for his recent expulsion – but we strongly suspect it is related to this past behavior and/or attitude.
Some believe this is related to his divorce from his wife Eryn.
“The last few years have been very difficult. “I didn’t want that and I tried to save the marriage but unfortunately we’re getting a divorce,” the then-ABC employee said at the time, adding:
“My focus now is on my children.”
According to various sources, Marciano developed an anger problem as a result of this breakup.
However, according to Page Six, Marciano also developed a rivalry with fellow meteorologist Ginger Zee… which may also have contributed to his job loss.
Marciano joined Good Morning America in 2014 to take over Zee’s weekend gig after Zee was promoted to daily GMA, replacing chief meteorologist Sam Champion – who had then left for the Weather Channel.
An insider now says that Marciano had a “hot temper” that caused problems on the show, while Zee was also capable of being “vicious.”
“I think she brought out the worst in him. I’m not giving him a pass,” the source says.
Swetha Sharma, a former ABC employee, confirmed to People Magazine on Wednesday that no one who worked with Marciano at the network was “surprised” by his firing due to his aforementioned temper.
Conversely, an anonymous insider told People that all of these criticisms of Marciano were “malicious,” untrue and unfair, adding:
“[The] The Rob Marciano depicted is not the Rob Marciano we know.”
Apparently try telling Ginger Zee.
“It’s sad because these are two people who are really interested in the science of weather. Unfortunately, their personalities didn’t work,” Page Six wrote on May 1.
Multiple people have told this outlet that Marciano and Zee clashed frequently.
“She treated him like a beta and she was the alpha,” said one media manager, for example. “But they were much more equal in terms of experience, more so than Ginger and Sam.”
Zee has had no comment on this report or on Marciano’s termination in general.
However, a source close to Zee spoke out in her defense to The New York, claiming that Marciano has “behavioral issues” and stated on the matter:
“Ginger is a collaborative, inclusive and hard-working leader who is highly respected by her colleagues and has never complained about her work style.”
