- Rivian has introduced a factory body armor called Stealth by XPEL.
- It is made of a self-healing material, protects the paint and gives vehicles a satin finish.

Sometimes function and design match perfectly and benefit everyone involved. Rivian’s latest product is an example of this harmony. This week, the electric car manufacturer introduced a new paint protection film that not only increases the durability of the vehicles, but also improves their appearance.

Called “Stealth PPF Wrap” by XPEL, the film gives the Rivian R1T pickup and R1S SUV an elegant satin finish. And best of all: Rivian is offering the wrap free of charge for certain vehicle configurations until the end of April.

From a functional perspective, the Stealth PPF film helps protect the paintwork by covering it with a UV-resistant coating, preventing dullness and discoloration that the sun can cause over time. To provide the greatest possible protection, Rivian folds the material over all body panel edges that are accessible without removal. Everywhere else the film extends to within 1 mm of the edge of the panel.

The Stealth PPF material is also self-healing, so any fine scratches or swirl marks that appear on it will disappear once the film is exposed to heat. Unfortunately, the film is only available in selected colors.

Although Rivian hasn’t provided a comprehensive list of paint finishes that can be covered by the wrap, they have been showcased on Forest Green, Limestone, Midnight and LA Silver. The stealth PPF film is valued at $5,000 by the automaker.
The new protective film comes at a busy time for Rivian. In addition to unveiling the upcoming R3 and R2 SUVs, the company reached a production milestone earlier this month with its 100,000th vehicle. This success coincided with a planned factory closure to increase production efficiency. In addition, Rivian announced that the company successfully met its production targets for the first month of the year.
