“I love Melissa McCarthy…I’ve seen every one of her movies. A famous legendary singer, BS, made a comment about her weight loss… and asked if she had used a popular weight loss vaccine,” the 75-year-old fitness trainer wrote via Facebook on Tuesday, April 30. “What a question. I apologize to Melissa for these comments. And by the way, Melissa, you look fabulous! Love, Richard.”
Simmons’ post comes hours after Streisand, 82, casually asked McCarthy, 53, about her weight loss via a since-deleted Instagram comment. McCarthy originally posted a photo with Hairspray director Adam Shankman from the Center Theater Group Gala.
“Pastels just in honor of the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this guy @adamshankman!!!” McCarthy wrote via Instagram on Monday, April 29, “This goes a long way towards my dream of dancing on stage closer 💃🏻💚🩷.”

Streisand responded, “Give him my regards, have you taken Ozempic?”
After her comment made headlines, Streisand deleted the message, leaving many fans wondering if the Oscar winner intended to send the comedian a private message. On Tuesday, Streisand addressed her response and explained what she wanted to share.
“OMG – I went on Instagram to see the photos we posted of the beautiful flowers I got for my birthday!” Streisand shared this via her Instagram Story. “There was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy singing with me on my phone Encore Album. She looked amazing! I just wanted to compliment her. I forgot that the world reads.”
While the internet called out Streisand for the disrespectful remark, McCarthy took the news with grace.
“I think Barbra is a sweetheart and I love her,” she told TMZ on Tuesday.
Ozempic, a drug for diabetes patients, is a hot topic in Hollywood. In addition to supporting type 2 diabetes, the drug has also been known in recent years as a weight loss medication for rapid weight loss. However, doctors do not recommend using it as an occasional way to lose a few pounds.

McCarthy has never spoken publicly about Ozempic or other weight loss medications. However, she was open about the comments she received about her height throughout her career. In 2019, she recalled being rude to a journalist who harassed her about her body.
“He kept asking, ‘Are you shocked that you’re actually in this business at this massive size?'” McCarthy said InStyle by the time. “He said, ‘Oh, with your enormous size, you can actually work?’ I just remember how much blood came out of me. I thought, ‘With my enormous size, I could handle you so quickly.’…When we left, their producer was horrified and said, ‘We’ll never play what he said.’ I’m so sorry.’ But it happens all the time, to the point where it’s fascinating because they don’t do it to men.”
