Richa Chadha Calls Out Nora Fatehi, Says Her Take on Feminism is ‘misguided’: Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

In a recent interview with Puja Talwar, when asked about Nora Fatehi’s take on feminism, Richa Chadda called it “really no real understanding”. “The beauty of feminism is that it accepts those who seek the benefits of feminism but deny being a feminist. The reason someone can have a career, choose what they want to wear, work where they want to be independent, have that choice, is because of feminism and predecessors who decided that women had to be out there working, not just be at home. So I think it’s a misguided reaction to the image of a misinformed bra-burning mess from the late ’60s. It’s not really a real understanding,” she replied.

Nora Fatehi previously appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast where she said, “This idea that I don’t need anyone. Feminism. I don’t believe in this shit. In fact, I believe feminism has ruined our society. The idea of being completely independent by nature and not having to get married and have children and not having the male and female dynamic at home where the man is the provider, the breadwinner and the woman is the breadwinner. I don’t believe in people who think that’s not true. I think women are carers, yes they should go to work, have their own lives and be independent, but to a certain extent.”

Nora also added, “You should also be ready to take on the role of a mother, wife and educator. Just like a man should be ready to take on the role of a provider, breadwinner, father and husband. We call it an old-fashioned, traditional way of thinking. I call it the normal mindset. It’s just that feminism has messed it up a bit. In more sentimental things we are all equal, but in social things we are not the same. Basically, feminism is inherently great. I am also committed to women’s rights. I also want girls to go to school. However, when feminism becomes radical, it becomes dangerous for society.”

Richa Chadha has always been very vocal when it comes to feminism and women’s issues. In the interview, she contradicted Fatehi’s statement and said that she did not completely agree with it. “All roles are defined not as gender roles, but as people who share the responsibility of bringing a child into the world. And I don’t completely agree with that, women should be like that. And not like that. I’m surprised it was even said,” she said.

Both actors were recently seen on screen. While Nora was recently seen in Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut Madgaon Express, Richa was highly appreciated by the viewers for her role as Lajjo in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi.
