Reba McEntire Talks New Sitcom’s Connection to ‘Reba’ (Exclusive)

Reba McEntire is on her way back to scripted television and she couldn’t be more thrilled!

The country icon previously spoke with ET’s Ash Crossan The voice‘S first live show of Season 25 on Monday and discussed her return to the world of sitcoms following the cancellation of her fan-favorite show of the same name, Rebawhich aired for six seasons on The WB and The CW.

“It’s brand new,” she shared. “We did the pilot – it’s called Happy’s Place – and we keep our fingers crossed that they bring us to the series.”

The new series is not a continuation of RebaThere are some familiar faces both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

“Since our cancellation we have been working to get another show Reba show,” McEntire noted. “We have to do it Malibu Country for a season. We have the same producers, the same showrunner, the same writers and now we’re back with Melissa Peterman and Rex Linn, my friend, and a wonderful, wonderful cast and crew.

“We had so much fun making the pilot – we can’t wait to come back,” she enthused.

In January, And confirmed that McEntire, 68, is planning her triumphant return to sitcoms with an original NBC series that has been picked up as a pilot.

According to representatives from NBC and Universal Television The voice Coach will star and executive produce the multi-cam comedy, in which her character Bobbie inherits her father’s restaurant after his death. Things get interesting – and probably hilarious – when she discovers that her business partner in the venture is a half-sister she never knew she had.

“I have three wonderful artists,” she shared. “They’re prepared, they’ve picked great songs… They’ve picked emotional songs because when I’m in the audience, I want that song to touch my heart.”
