Royal Challengers Bengaluru are staying alive in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Even after defeats in the first half of the tournament, they are still in the running for the playoffs of the tournament.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru proved their case a bit after their stunning win over Gujarat Titans in the 52nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the two teams took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (May 4).
Royal Challengers Bengaluru put in a convincing performance against Gujarat Titans and registered a 2-0 win against the 2022 winners of the season. They put in a great performance with bat and ball to secure their fourth win in the Indian Premier League ( IPL) 2024.
By opting to bowl first, they wreaked havoc on the Gujarat Titans batting line-up and set the stage on fire from the word go. RCB left their opponents reeling at 19/3. Shahrukh Khan (37) and David Miller (30) led the rescue attack but the home team continued to contribute wickets at regular intervals.
Rahul Tewatia (35) also made a valuable contribution but the RCB bowlers did not let any opposition batsman cross the 40-run mark. They bundled out Gujarat Titans for 147 runs. Yash Dayal was the pick of the bowlers with his numbers on February 21. Apart from him, Mohammed Siraj and Vijaykumar Vyshak also picked two wickets while Cameron Green and Karn Sharma grabbed a scalp each.
In the chase, Virat Kohli (42) and Faf du Plessis (64) gave Royal Challengers Bengaluru a brutal start. They added 92 runs for the opening partnership and took their team to the driving position at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
However, they came under a bit of pressure after that as they lost wickets at lightning speed and were reduced to 117/6. But experienced keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik (21*) and Swapnil Singh (15*) ensured their team’s victory as RCB won the game by 4 wickets.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their fourth game of the tournament by defeating Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. They are now in 7th place in the points table with 8 points and 7 defeats. The win over GT also increased their NRR to -0.049.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are still in the race for the playoffs. First, they have to make sure they pass all remaining games, which will give them 14 points. However, this will not be enough as they also need other results to go their way.
RCB wants either Sunrisers Hyderabad or Lucknow Super to win just one of their remaining games and Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, who have 10 points, should win just two games. Additionally, the Punjab Kings are not allowed to win more than three games. If this all works out in their favour, they will be drawn level with teams on 14 points and can then qualify based on the NRR.
