Ravichandran Ashwin Gives a Gentle yet Epic Reply to X User Who Made Fun of Shahid Afridi’s Sixes at the 2014 Asia Cup

Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin gave an epic reply to a fan who attacked him over Shahid Afridi’s sixes in the 2014 Asia Cup. The off-spinner admitted that the former Pakistan captain took some good shots against him.

One of the most famous matches of the 2014 Asia Cup was between India and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Bangladesh. India was on its way to victory and was expected to win since it had defeated its arch-rivals.

The game went down to the wire but Shahid Afridi hit two magnificent sixes off Ravichandran Ashwin to win the game for Pakistan and eliminate India from the tournament. The Men in Green narrowly won the game as they were almost out of the game.

Ravichandran Ashwin recently posted about his interaction with Dinesh Karthik, who is part of the commentary panel for the ICC World Cup 2023. However, a fan mocked him and made him remember those sixes by saying, “Shahid Afridi still remembers those sixes.”

In response to this, Ravichandran Ashwin said: “Those were really good shots, man.
I really admired him as a great ball striker.”

Ravichandran Ashwin has been named in India’s squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. He replaced the injured Axar Patel in the team. The off-spinner put in a great performance in the series against Australia and impressed the selectors.

“I worked with Sairaj at NCA and worked on different angles and grips – Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin recently revealed the changes he made at NCA ahead of the Australia series. He admitted that he should have made these changes earlier in his career. He explained:

“I worked with Sairaj at NCA and worked on different angles and grips. He said there was a difference and I asked him to watch from the front and back and we worked on it for three to four days. For the amount of cricket I’ve played over the years, I should have done this a long time ago, but I’m happy to at least be doing it now. At the end of the day, if the batsman is deceived, it’s a great ball, that’s all you hope for as a bowler.”

Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to play a big role with the ball in the ICC World Cup 2023. India will open their match against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8th.
