Randy Travis make new music! The 64-year-old country star is back with a new single more than a decade after his ordeal A life-threatening stroke in 2013.
Travis shared the news in a social media post on Wednesday.
“It’s been a while since my last new recording, but I’m excited to announce that this Friday, May 3rd, I’ll be releasing my first brand new studio recording in over a decade, ‘Where That Came From'” he said captioned a post on Instagram.
“In the coming week you will hear much more about the special team of people who came together to make this magical moment in my career possible,” he added. “In the meantime, just know that when it comes to singing songs for you, there’s always more where that comes from. Thank you for singing along all these years.”
The video features behind-the-scenes clips of Travis in the studio for a first look at the new track.
The song rollout has so far included heartfelt tributes from Clay Walker And Cole Swindell.
“Randy Travis has meant a lot to me over the years,” Swindell wrote, sharing a video of himself sitting with Travis as they listened to the new song together. “It was my very first concert and one of the reasons I decided to sign with Warner. It was a great honor to be able to call him a friend and hearing this song with him for the first time is something I will never forget. I have a feeling it will affect everyone as much as it did me. What a song.
The new song comes eight years after Travis made it triumphant return to the stage In 2016, he performed the hymn “Amazing Grace” during the medallion ceremony for his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
He has been busy in recent years publishing his memoirs, Forever and ever, Amen: A reminder of music, faith and braving the storms of life, in 2019 and a documentary, More life, the following year.
Almost six months ago, Travis was honored at a special event – a tribute to Randy Travis of Texas Heroes & Friends – in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Back in 2021, Kane Brown praised his country music mentor the CMT Artist of the Year event.
In an interview with ET, Brown reflected on what the country star has meant to him over the years.
“Randy was a big help to my success, he sang the songs, did the covers – his songs have meaning. He’s a great storyteller,” Brown recalls.
“For all the new artists here in Nashville…he shows so much support. I wish I had had that when I started,” he explained. “He’s a great mentor.”
