Proton Sales up 17.1% in April 2024; X50 and S70 Bestsellers in Their Respective Segments – Paultan.org

Proton today announced that it has sold a total of 11,025 vehicle units for the domestic and export markets for the month of April 2024. This figure allows the company to achieve a sales growth of 17.1% compared to the same month last year, which recorded sales of 9,415 vehicle units.

The volume recorded also allows Proton’s cumulative annual sales for 2024 to also reach 50,175 units, compared to 49,702 units for the period from January to April 2023. This is in line with the growth of the Total Industry Total (TIV). for the Malaysian automobile market, which is expected to grow by 59,100 units over the same period, bringing the cumulative figure for this year now to 261,345 units.

Therefore, Proton estimates its market share in Malaysia at 18.7% in April 2024, while its annual market share is estimated at 19.2% to remain in second place. Exports, on the other hand, rose again by 38.5% from the beginning of the year to April, from 603 units to 835 units.

Contributing to the overall sales in April, the X50 sold 1,642 units, climbing back to the top as the best-selling B-segment SUV in the local market. Meanwhile, the Proton S70 remains the best-selling C-segment sedan in Malaysia for the fourth consecutive month with sales of 1,635 units in April and has now reached 7,463 units in the first four months of this year.

Proton’s cheapest model, the Saga, still contributed the most sales with 5,031 units in April. This means cumulative annual sales now stand at 23,278 units, an increase of 8.8%.

As for other models, sales of the Proton B-segment hatchback Proton Iriz reached 424 units in April, and sales in the first four months of the year were 1,958 units.

Saga also became the most popular model in the export market with up to 427 units, followed by the X50 in second place with 176 units sold abroad from January to April this year. The Proton S70 sold outside Malaysia sold 89 units last month, all to the sedan’s only export market to date, Brunei.
